Spring 2010: Magazine Project

Intro to Design: Magazine designed in Adobe InDesign CS3 and inspired by the layout of Print Magazine. Each page is approximately 9" x 11", making each of the following spreads roughly 18" x 11".

This project took about a month to do and reminded me why I'm glad I didn't major in graphic design, as I originally intended. I felt that with this project (and the whole field, in general), I was very restricted in terms of creativity and expressing my point of view as an artist. The first two articles were required, and we got to choose from a list for the last two short ones. The design also had to be heavily influenced from an existing design magazine. I was able to choose fonts, images, which layout to use, end bullet, and title, but that was about it. It was difficult to find imagery for the Unger article, since the teacher said we were not allowed to use any images of Unger himself because he was tired of looking at his face and purple shirts. Other than that article, I am satisfied how the design came out overall.
